THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS EVENT

This course is designed for anyone who wants to discover the benefits of operating an oil cargo loss management programme with a view to controlling inventory, improving cargo quality assurance and reducing quantity shortages and claims, either in shore tanks or on vessels. Ideally, delegates should already have some experience of oil trading operations and a basic understanding of inspection or terminal operations. Delegates who have previously attended Asdem 's "Oil Operations" or "Practical Operations" courses would benefit from attending

DESCRIPTION

Good loss management techniques must be used to assist in the prevention and resolution of cargo quantity claims. Often after a cargo loss has occurred, it is exceedingly difficult to find the evidence necessary to prove or defend a claim. Having a loss management programme in place will ensure that the necessary data is available to assist in investigating and resolving claims efficiently.

This fascinating two-day seminar, presented by Martin Stokes (Asdem's Senior Technical Consultant) and Andrew Wilding (Managing Director, Asdem), is designed to be as relevant as possible to the day-to-day responsibilities of the delegates and requires their active participation. It provides a comprehensive introduction to what senior management and oil traders need to ensure that their inventories are fully protected at all times. The emphasis throughout is on devising techniques for avoiding expensive errors and anticipating the problems which habitually draw companies into disputes. Delegates will have the opportunity to investigate case studies in testing situations and adverse trading conditions so they can practice the various techniques they have learnt during the two days. The comprehensive course documentation has been designed to be a useful guide for future reference.

This course has been designed to provide a detailed explanation of the practical methods required to pre-empt and minimise cargo losses. It covers the commercial and practical issues involved in controlling inventory on or off the water. In addition, the course demonstrates tried and tested investigatory tools that can be employed to resolve cargo quantity discrepancies.
